Lukewarm

I still have not started reading Francis Chan's "Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God", but the more I hear about it the more excited I become (I have 2 other books in process that I would like to finish first).

From childhood I remember hearing Revelation 3:16 quoted:
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
What does lukewarm really mean? Along with the temperature related definitions Websters also defines it as "lacking conviction". Well, from the point of understanding this verse that definition does not provide a lot of clarity.

This morning my friend Paul did a post about Lukewarm. He listed 18 things from Crazy Love that define a lukewarm person. Unfortunately, it is extremely convicting. Click on the picture above to read Paul's post...and then go buy "Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God".

A Challenging Quote From Jim Elliot

A friend shared the quote below on her Facebook page this morning. I had never read it before, but I found it incredibly challenging.
"We are so utterly ordinary, so commonplace, while we profess to know a Power the Twentieth Century does not reckon with. But we are "harmless," and therefore unharmed. We are spiritual pacifists, non-militants, conscientious objectors in this battle-to-the-death with principalities and powers in high places. Meekness must be had for contact with men, but brass, outspoken boldness is required to take part in the comradeship of the Cross. We are "sideliners" -- coaching and criticizing the real wrestlers while content to sit by and leave the enemies of God unchallenged. The world cannot hate us, we are too much like its own. Oh that God would make us dangerous!"

Quote by Jim Elliot, 1927-1956
