It is hard to believe that there are people that try to deny that the astronauts actually walked on the moon. Some conspiracy theorists have even gone so far as to call the astronauts cowards, liars and cheats (which the video above proves will get you a punch in the jaw from Buzz Aldrin...click on the it to see the full video).
Harrison Schmitt, the pilot of the lunar lander during the last Apollo mission and later a United States senator, said in an interview that the poor state of the nation’s schools has had predictable results. “If people decide they’re going to deny the facts of history and the facts of science and technology, there’s not much you can do with them,” he said.
“For most of them, I just feel sorry that we failed in their education.”
I am sure the Georgetown, TX Chamber of Commerce cringed when they saw this. It is hard enough getting tourists in the summer, but this is ridiculous...
If you are a fan of soccer, baseball, football, or track and field then you know that heat and sun exposure can not only drain the athletes but it can also drain the fans. One of the major causes of skin cancer and heat exhaustion is overexposure to the sun. For ages people have tried to find ways to limit their exposure to the sun while attending sporting events. Bleacher Suite LLC has made strides in helping the sporting public to do so.
What is a Bleacher Suite? Bleacher Suites are customized canopies designed specifically for outdoor bleachers. Bleacher Suite Canopies use patent pending technology to help to reduce the harsh damages that can be caused by heat and sun exposure. What makes a Bleacher Suite different is that it is specifically designed for bleachers. For those people who frequent amateur sporting events, you will notice that people use items that are not designed for the bleachers. They may include patio chairs, patio canopies, and even camping tents. These items can often, obstruct the view of the other spectators, they take too long to set up, and generally are not secure. Bleacher Suites are designed specifically with the fan in mind. Bleacher Suite Canopies give the fan the ability to enjoy the sporting event "Hands Free" while having greater protection from the elements.
I am sure that Trinity Church located at Broadway and Wall Street in New York is a fine church. However, I think someone needs to tell their organist that some things should never be played on an organ.
Trinity Church's organist plays a thrilling tribute to the King of Pop.
In the world of runners there is a debate going on about whether you should or should not wear headphones while running. I wear mine occasionally, but not usually. Personally I enjoy hearing the world around me...but I understand why others do not. However, it never ceases to amaze me how many women run by themselves at dusk with headphones on. To me it seems that it is a no-brainer that a woman running alone should make sure she can see and HEAR everything going on around her, especially when it is dark or getting dark.
Runner's World posted a blog post about another reason you should not wear headphones. If you exercise outside you should click on the image above to read the article.
40 years ago, three human beings - with the help of many thousands of others - left our planet on a successful journey to our Moon, setting foot on another world for the first time. Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the July 16, 1969 launch of Apollo 11, with astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. aboard. The entire trip lasted only 8 days, the time spent on the surface was less than one day, the entire time spent walking on the moon, a mere 2 1/2 hours - but they were surely historic hours. Scientific experiments were deployed (at least one still in use today), samples were collected, and photographs were taken to document the entire journey. Collected here are 40 images from that journey four decades ago, when, in the words of astronaut Buzz Aldrin: "In this one moment, the world came together in peace for all mankind". (40 photos total)

A long time ago I came across the phone number (336)226-1488. It is the number for the Graham Cinema in Graham, North Carolina. Being a small town theater it usually shows movies that have already made the big city circuit. Well, each week the owner, Tim Bob (I am not making this up) will give a brief review of the movie and then will tell a couple of jokes. If you ever find yourself bored or in dire need of a corny joke give the Graham Cinema a call and listen to Tim Bob's recorded message.
