The River Walk in San Antonio has recently been expanded. This expansion includes the addition of a lock and dam system that will allow boats to travel further up and down the river. This video shows how it operates.

Train vs. tornado..Who wins?
Have you even wondered what would happen if a freight train ran through a strong thunderstorm with strong winds or even a tornado? Well, it happened on Jan. 8, 2008 in northern Illinois.
(The good stuff starts about the one minute mark)

THE TORNADO THEN MOVED ACROSS THE CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD WHERE IT BLEW 12 RAILROAD FREIGHT CARS OFF THE TRACK. THE TRAIN WAS MOVING AT THE TIME THE TORNADO HIT IT...SO AS THE MAIN ENGINE STOPPED...THE REMAINING CARS ON THE TRACK CONTINUED ALONG IT AND SLAMMED INTO THE FRONT PART OF THE TRAIN. THIS CAUSED A FEW MORE CARS TO DERAIL...INCLUDING ONE CONTAINING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS THAT CAUSED THE EVACUATION OF THE TOWN OF LAWRENCE. THE DAMAGE IN LAWRENCE WAS RATED AS EF2 WITH WINDS UP TO 110 MPH.

7 Quotes For Father's Day (Belated!)
From a blog written by my high school friend Jane.
- A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty.
-Author Unknown - There’s something like a line of gold thread running through a man’s words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself.
-John Gregory Brown, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery, 1994 - There are three stages of a man’s life: He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus.
-Author Unknown - Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.
-Bill Cosby - I felt something impossible for me to explain in words. Then, when they took her away, it hit me. I got scared all over again and began to feel giddy. Then it came to me… I was a father.
-Nat King Cole - Spread the diaper in the position of the diamond with you at bat. Then, fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher’s mound. Put first base and third together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again.
-Jimmy Piersal, on how to diaper a baby - Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.
-Red Buttons
Church Olympics: The Complain Off
A great blog post from Stuff Christians Like...
Read The Full Blog Post Here
In this thrilling bout of athletic prowess, each church that enters the Olympics will put forth their greatest grumbler. They will find their best complainer, the person who is never happy, never tired of whining and forever spreading verbal vinegar or paragraphs of poison and then put them on top of a platform. The platform will be ten feet high and will be sticking out of a pool of Miracle Whip and Cinnabons. (Miracle Whip is like mayonnaise’s underachieving cousin and Cinnabons smell roughly 900% better than they actually taste. So as they’re falling the loser will briefly think they’re about to land in a delicious cinnamon roll. Nope. Just a Cinnabon slathered with Miracle Whip.)

48 Hour Soutwest Airlines Fair Sale
Calling it "one of the biggest fare sales in the company's history," Southwest launched an unusual airfare sale for fall travel.
The Dallas-based airline's sale is based on travel miles, offering customers one-way prices of $30, $60 and $90 depending on how far the flight goes. For flights up to 400 miles, the price is $30; between 400 and 750 miles, the cost is $60; and for more than 750 miles, the ticket is $90.
Customers must travel between Sept. 9 and Nov. 18 and weekend dates are blacked out. The sale also only lasts for the next two days.
Farecompare.com chief executive Rick Seaney said he expects major carriers to match Southwest's fare sale, even if it is for this short period of time.
"The meaning of this sale: it is one indication that airlines are by no means out of the woods yet - as oil prices remain volatile and demand precarious," Seaney said in his morning e-mail.

Is It A Collection, Or Is It Just Clutter?
Pogs, Beanie Babies, Matchbox Cars...we all know someone that "collects" something. Maybe it is you...maybe it is your spouse. Unfortunately our collections are frequently just clutter that we have some emotional attachment to.
I recently started following a blog titled unclutterer that is about "about getting and staying organized." They posted the video below that I thought I would pass along. Enjoy...
